And her new friend Roxy (yes, she's holding the leash):

Of course, all the playing is very exhausting:9 weeks 028

But, luckily, she has owners who are willing to snuggle her while she's still tiny:

Using My Frustration for Good

It's been a while since I've written a letter of complaint.  I went through a phase where I was on quite a letter-writing campaign (snow plow service, citibank, CBS, etc.).  Then things settled down and I had been able to contain my dissatisfaction with trivial things.   That is, until today.

We (I) got ready to watch the Colts game on NFL Sunday ticket.  Keep in mind that we get DirecTV only during football season.  We get HD DirecTV because Craig's a tech snob.  One would assume that we would then get football games in HD since we pay for 1) Sunday Ticket and 2) HD DirecTV.  Unfortunately, DirecTV has decided to capitalize on their monopoly and are packaging HD games into the Super Fan package for another $100.  It's shady and greedy.  I already was annoyed that I had to use them and now they are trying to extort more money.  It's just offensive.

I decided to let it go.  But then the Colts had a shitty first half, I was frustrated, and so I decided to express my concerns to DirecTV so that they could re-consider their price structure and Super Fan HD packaging.  Unfortunately, the Colts are not having a great 2nd half so I'm not sure who I'll write a letter to after the game.    Maybe I'll let the NFL know that I'm dissatisfied with their deal with DirecTV.  I think that contract is only good for another couple years.

Old Family Pictures

My dad has been into geneaology for awhile, but after his retirement this hobby has certainly grown.  One of his latest projects is digitizing old slides (yes, slides, not even film).  He emailed me the sweetest picture of my grandfather, BaDaddy, reading to my dad and my aunt.  It only made me cry a little.

Ah Nature

This morning as I was running out the door at 7:30 AM (after working til 2 AM...everyone feel a little awestruck and yet sympathetic), I noticed the little fawns in my peripheral vision.  Like a kid at the zoo, I ran up to the kitchen window to marvel at the wonderous beauty of nature.  And then I recoiled in horror as the deer turned away from me and took a HUGE crap in our lawn.  C'mon!!  The woods were 20 feet away.  It wouldn't have killed him/her to hold it?  So, it looks like I might have to learn how to potty train a fawn.  Great.

Working on My ESP

I finally had to have a talk with one of my co-workers yesterday.  The highlights went something like this:

  • I do not have a Blackberry or a Treo
  • I do have a computer at home but I do not check my work email at night or over the weekends.
  • I have not yet mastered the art of clairvoyance.
  • Therefore, I will not 1) receive, 2) review, or 3) respond to any documents you send me on a Friday night.
  • Unfortunately this means that I will also not make your 9:00 AM  Monday deadline assigned in the Friday evening email.
  • I will still not have reviewed the document by 9:30 or even 10:00 because I have spent most of that time wading through all of the weekend emails you sent.

The scary part is that there were two other people on the cc list who did make the deadline.  I know they feel very important responding to these weekend emails, but really it's just sad.  I decided in the interest of maintaining decent work relationships not to mention that last opinion.  Perhaps, instead I'll take a class on ESP and charge it to professional development.
