Great news - Metromix now covers Cleveland! This site was my social planner when I lived in Chicago. Now that it's here maybe I'll get a social life. (Or maybe I'll just get a dog).

All Consuming
Whenever anyone has asked what I've been up to for the last month, I have blabbed away for hours about my latest all-consuming life change (well, hopefully). We put the house on the market about 45 days ago to move farther out into the country - more land, more house, shorter commute to work, lower taxes. A shorter commute also means that one of us will be able to go home at lunch which means we can finally get a dog! The problem, as you all know, is that this is the worst freaking market in decades. We realize it's bad timing, but are hoping to make more where we buy than we might lose when we sell. Either way, once I came to terms with putting the house on the market, I was ready for it to sell. Immediately. We have had some showings but no offers yet.
We've gone to look at houses but I don't want to commit until I feel confident our house is sold. So, it's been a waiting game -- looking to see what's out there, trying not to get too excited when we find something cool, trying to be patient as people look at our house, and certainly trying not to stress about money.
The other annoying part is having to keep the house "showing-ready". I don't want to make my bed every day. I'm finally old enough where I can get away with not doing it and now I'm right back to where I started.
So, wish us luck and if you're looking to move to the Land of Cleves...

It's Not That Hard
It really annoys me when companies don't have website. This should be a priority for any business. I don't care if you don't know much about websites - there are plenty of people who can help you set it up. It doesn't need to be fancy. It doesn't even need more than one page. BUT c'mon - it's 2008. Until you get a website, you're kicked off my short list of eligible contractors.
